A compact, deciduous, short climber with mid-green leaves and light blue-purple star-shaped flowers bearing creamy-white stamens. Borne from early summer to early autumn, this dwarf clematis makes a glorious, free-flowering pastel focal point for a small trellis, obelisk or weaving in and out of a small climbing rose such as ‘Goldfinch’ or ‘Little Rambler’. Like all clematis, ‘Cezanne’ prefers a position in sun with the soil area and roots in the shade. - Garden care: In early spring cut back the previous year's stems to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground level and apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the plant, avoiding the immediate crown.
