A simple combination to include a dramatic tree fern which will eventually form a canopy above the bold foliage of the lady fern and plantain lily.

Planting tips: Add a generous amount of well-rotted garden compost or leaf-mould before planting. Water and feed the dicksonia by spraying the whole stem and crown as they absorb their nutrients through the trunk. Protect the crown in winter by packing it with an insulation material, such as straw. The foliage of the hosta may need protection from slugs and snails, and apply a 5-7cm mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the base of the plants each spring.

You will need a shady corner bed measuring 2m x 2m.
