This exquisite collection of fruit trees offers a tantalizing taste of the seasons. Enjoy the crisp sweetness of the 'Red Windsor' apple, the dark, juicy 'Stella' cherry, the buttery richness of the 'Conference' pear, and the classic flavour of the 'Victoria' plum. These hardy and award winning varieties are perfect for colder climates, ensuring a bountiful harvest year after year.

Choosing from potted, or bareroot, trees, each collection features one of each of the following:

  • Cherry 'Stella': 'Stella' is an exceptional, self-fertile, sweet cherry, which typically produces a bumper crop of large, dark red fruits, which can be eaten straight from the tree in midsummer. A vigorous grower, it is initially quite upright in habit, but it will soon start to spread out as it matures - and it's noted for its ability to start cropping at a young age (often within 2-3 years after planting). Offered on Colt rootstock (semi-vigorous) which grows to approximately 6m x 6m.

  • Apple 'Red Windsor': This apple is perfect for smaller gardens as you don't need another tree to produce a bumber crop of superbly flavoured deep red fruits, which will be ready to eat in September. 'Red Windsor' will be happy in a large pot, as long as it is kept well fed and watered, and it has a good resistance to many of the common diseases. Offered on M26 rootstock (dwarfing) which grows to approximately 2.4m to 3m.

  • Pear 'Conference': This dessert pear tree is covered with pure white flowers in mid-spring, followed by long, yellowish green fruits. The flesh is firm and juicy as well as deliciously sweet. An excellent variety that will grow anywhere, even performing well in colder areas of the UK. Offered on Quince A rootstock (semi-vigorous) which grows to approximately 3m to 4.5m.

  • Plum 'Victoria': A reliable, self-fertile plum which produces a heavy crop of large, pale red fruit with golden-yellow flesh, which can be used for cooking, canning, bottling or just eating fresh. The single, white flowers are produced in spring and fruiting picking can start in late August. It is one of the most popular plum trees available but does need the fruit to be thinned to avoid biennial fruiting. It is difficult to predict accurately when these trees will start to produce fruit, but as a general rule the potted ones usually start to produce a little after 2 - 3 years, but need between 3 - 5 years before they yield a good crop. The bare root plants may take a year or two longer. Offered on Quince A rootstock (semi-vigorous) which grows to approximately 4.5m to 5m.

  • Garden care:
Prepare a hole up to three times the diameter of its root system. Fork over the base of the pit in readiness, incorporating plenty of organic matter into the backfill and planting hole. Avoiding frozen and waterlogged soil, trees should be planted out and staked as soon as they arrive.

If you've ordered a bare root tree, soak the roots in a bucket of water for half an hour prior to planting, or if this is not possible, they can be heeled in temporarily, covering their roots with soil, or potted up. Protect from cold, drying winds. Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring to support growth and fruiting.
