Sought-after for its brilliant white bark, this vigorous, deciduous tree has yellowy-brown catkins in spring and dark green, ovate leaves that turn butter-yellow in autumn. The warm chestnut brown stem colour of the west Himalayan birch gradually turns white with age (once the tree is around 8 years old). Delivered as small plants (approximately 20cm high in 1.5 litre nursery pots), in time they will grow into spectacular trees that will create elegant garden specimens. They would also be equally stunning planted underplanted with early flowering spring bulbs.

  • Garden care:
Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake well.
