Emerging with a lilac blush before opening to semi-double white petals on short reddish-green stems, 'Albina Plena' is a beautiful, woody-based deciduous clematis with dark-green leaves whose bell-shaped, nodding blooms 5cm (2”) across are followed by silky seed heads. A cottage garden classic renowned for its vigorous growth and stunning flower display. - Garden care: No routine pruning is necessary. If the spread of the plant needs to be restricted prune immediately after flowering, cutting back overlong shoots to healthy buds. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.
