Fragrant white flowers in May, followed by spherical, dark red fruit, and deeply lobed, glossy, dark green leaves. The common hawthorn tree or hedge in full bloom is a wonderful sight in spring. C. monogyna makes a great hedge for a range of settings and provides valuable food source and refuge for native birds and insects - the spiny thorns serve as a deterrent against potential intruders.
Our bare root hedging range is a very low-cost way of planting a hedge. This hedging pack is only available to buy and plant when dormant (November- early April). With known seed provenance, these bare-root hedging plants are ready to plant by the time they reach you.
Our plants are 1 years old (1+0) which means they have been grown for 1 year in the seed bed. The plants are lifted and graded at between 60-80cm tall - a good size to plant hedges to encourage succesful establishment.
