If allowed to grow naturally, this majestic plant will grow to make a tall, spreading tree, but it is also well suited (and much sought after) for hedging. Its wavy-edged green leaves emerge from bud covered with silky hairs, but soon turn a glossy dark green - and then, in autumn, it takes on yellowish-brown tones as it dies back. This foliage however is often retained throughout the winter, only dropping when the new growth emerges the following spring.
Please note: This is sent out as a bare root plant, and it should be planted out as soon as possible after delivery. - Garden care: When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole. Requires minimal pruning.
- Pets: Harmful if eaten
