Basal rosettes of leaves, bear open clusters of fragrant, trumpet-like, petite flowers that fade from red to pink to white, giving a multi-coloured effect on each plant. Elegant and upright, with long season interest, ‘Whisper Mixed’ is an elegant annual that is most effective when planted in large drifts throughout beds and borders.

The seedlings are grown in individual plug cells, and each plant measures about 4 - 6cm tall (from the base of the root to the top of the plant). They are ideal for keen gardeners who have a greenhouse where the plants can be grown on until they are ready for planting out in the garden once all chance of frost has passed.

Please note: We grow these especially for you, so we do request that full payment is made when you place your order. See above for despatch dates. To ensure that your plants arrive in the best possible condition each pack will be despatched individually.

Garden care:
Protect from frost, keep the soil or compost moist by watering regularly during dry spells and feed with a balanced fertiliser every fourteen days. Although usually grown as an annual, plants that are protected with a dry mulch may survive mild winters where temperatures only occasionally fall below -5°C (23°F).

  • Sowing instructions:
Early sowings can be undertaken (from March to May) under glass at approximately 20°C, in trays or pots filled with good quality seed compost. Surface sow thinly and water from the bottom of the pots by sitting them in a tray of water for a short time when necessary. When large enough to handle, grow on in small pots and gradually harden off before planting outside at 45cm intervals after frost. As the seeds are so small it may help to mix them with a little sand before sowing. This will help you keep track of where they are and also avoid overcrowding.

  • Sow: March to May
