Embrace the allure of spring with this enchanting collection, a mesmerising combination of rich purple and blackcurrant hues. These elegant blooms are an assortment of bicolours delicately accentuated with graceful cream and ivory blushes and adorned with frills of sugar dusted white. Stunning together as a cut-flower display, they will also marvel in the border for a memorable May.

In each collection you will receive the following:

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Negrita Double': Big, blousy blooms, which are a rich royal purple with bluish undertones, top stout stems, and look sublime when planted with softer lilacs - or most shades of pink. A relative of the ever-popular (single-flowered) 'Negrita', this double form is also a big hit. Grows to 40cm.

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Cummins': A tall tulip, which is great for adding to bedding displays where you need a little height. The lavender purple, cup-shaped flowers have a white fringe to each petal, which means they combine well with all shades of puple, lilac-pink or white. The flowers are quite long lasting and are good for adding to cut arrangements. Grows to 60cm.

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Fontainebleau': The white rim helps define the colouring of the deep maroon petals, and together they create a show-stopping effect - particularly when seen against the backdrop of the blue-flushed foliage. Plant en masse so you have enough for the border as well as the vase. Grows to 40cm.

  • Garden care:
From August to November plant the bulbs 10-15cm deep and 10-15cm apart in a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil. While actively growing, keep them moderately well watered and remove the flowers after they have faded. At that stage a balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied each week for 4 weeks before they die down.
    • Humans: Harmful if eaten; skin allergen; Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
