Closely related to a hydrangea, this self-clinging deciduous climber puts on a great show in midsummer, when its leafy stems are topped with showy lacecap-like flowerheads, which have a collar of extra large creamy-white bracts. It looks wonderful when scrambling up through a mature tree, or smothering an unsightly wall.

  • Garden care: Plant at least 60cm (24in) away from a host plant, fence or wall, and tie the stems onto a support until established.
  • Humans: Skin allergen; Pets: Harmful if eaten
