Displaying large ruffled flowers, 'Ruffles Purple White Rim' boasts dark purple-violet petals with a striking white border and a small golden yellow centre. This scented, winter/spring variety, with its compact foliage, blooms reliably from winter to spring, showing good resistance to both cold and heat. Ideal for planters, gardens, and balconies, this lightly scented pansy can produce their frilly flowers for up to six months in autumn, spring, and summer, depending on the planting time.
Supplied as jumbo seedlings, these violas are best grown individually in pots within a frost-free environment, such as a cool greenhouse or a brightly lit windowsill, before being hardened off and planted outside. Plant them in compost or well-drained, humus-rich soil that is not frozen or prone to waterlogging. Protect young plants from slug damage with environmentally slug pellets or beer traps. Regularly deadhead spent blooms to prolong the to prolong flowering.
