The big, papery, white flowers, which appear from late spring, are flushed with yellow at their centre and look great against the grey-green foliage of this tough little evergreen shrub.

Once established Helianthemum 'The Bride' becomes drought tolerant and it thrives in hot, sunny spots where little else will grow. It also copes well with salt laden wind so is a good choice for coastal gardens. In more favourable conditions, it is a very pretty, low-growing shrub, that works well as edging or filling a beautiful pot on the terrace.

  • Garden care:
Plant in a sunny, well-drained spot, adding grit if needed, and water until established. Once settled they require lower maintenence, only occasional water in long dry spells and a light, granular-based fertiliser feed in spring. After flowering in summer, lightly trim stems to keep the plant neat and bushy, but avoid cutting into old woody growth which won’t regenerate.
