An elegant semi-evergreen variety characterised by its wavy or "crisped" rich green fronds, which give it a more ornamental appearance compared to the straight fronds of the species. The cultivars in the Crispa group are popular ornamental plants in gardens and landscaping due to their attractive foliage and hardiness. Try it in a moist shady border with other woodland plants such s hostas, foxgloves, or contrasting ferns such as Athyrium or Asplenium.

  • Garden care: Incorporate lots of well-rotted leaf mould, composted pine needles or garden compost into the planting hole. Cut back decayed fronds in winter to allow new growth to emerge.
