This vigorous marginal aquatic perennial is perfect for planting at pond margins. In mid-spring, a profusion of double yellow flowers almost completely cover the small mounds of kidney-shaped, dark green leaves. Although Caltha palustris 'Plena' copes with a planting depth of up to 23cm (9") deep for short, seasonal pond level changes, it prefers shallow water or reliably moist, bog garden conditions. Deer resistant.
Plant in reliably 'boggy' ground in humus-rich soil at the water's edge, or in shallow water up to 10cm (4") deep. Low maintenance, Caltha will often re-grow and flower again in autumn if cut back hard in summer. Lift and divide large clumps in late spring.
