  • 'Red Tempest' is a striking tall variety displaying large maple-shaped spiral leaves with a captivating combination of colours. The leaf veins are striped dark green, creating an attractive contrast with the pale leaf blade, which features a prominent red heart at its centre. Complementing the stunning foliage, pink flowers bloom intermittently during summer and autumn. As shade-tolerant houseplants, rex-type begonias offer a unique and beautiful addition to any indirectly lit indoor space.

We’re proud to support our British growers, and having been raised by one of our trusted UK nurseries, this indoor plant has a low carbon footprint, which makes it perfect for an eco-friendly collection or gift.

  • Home care:
Rex begonias require special care during the summer months. It's best to keep them in shaded areas and provide ample watering, ensuring proper drainage and maintaining a humid atmosphere around the plants. Avoid wetting the leaves or the crown.

As winter approaches, reduce the frequency of watering. Allow the compost surface to dry out before watering again. These begonias thrive with a minimum winter temperature of 13°C (55°F) across all varieties.

For optimal growth, feed them every two weeks from May to September using a high nitrogen fertiliser.
