Producing its deep purple and warm red flowers over a really long time, this fuchsia will form a key role in the summer garden. If left to grow naturally, it will form an open shrub with splaying stems, but if its red-stained stems are tied onto a network of wires laid flat against a wall or offered some other form of support, this borderline-hardy fuchsia can be trained to scramble like a climber.

  • Garden care: To encourage growth, pinch out the growing tips of young plants after the sixth or seventh pair of leaves. During the growing season water regularly, applying a balanced liquid fertiliser each month. Cut back to the permanent framework in early spring.
  • Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental - not to be eaten
