With its attractive foliage and delicate flowers this aquatic perennial plant is a desirable option for adding natural beauty and ecological benefits to ponds and other water features. Myriophyllum crispatum boasts feathery, whorled foliage in a vibrant shade of bright green, which emerges on crisp stems above the water surface. During the months of June to July, it produces small red flowers that add a splash of colour to the aquatic setting. Although similar in looks to Myriophyllum aquaticum (which is an invasive, non-native species), this aquatic species is much less prolific and provides oxygenation for ponds and underwater growth which provides habitat for pond life. - Garden care: Myriophyllum can be grown in boggy soils or submerged in the margins of ponds, with the crown positioned up to a maximum depth of 25cm (10") below the water surface. It can thrive in either full sun or partial shade. Once established, it is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal aftercare. If excessive growth occurs, it can be pruned or removed as needed to maintain the desired appearance and size.
