'Mystic Blue Spires' is a tender perennial that is typically grown as a summer season bedding plant. This striking salvia bears a close resemblance to lavender and features dark flower spikes that unfurl to reveal stunning deep blue flowers that tower above its slender, verdant foliage. This variety is compact and has multiple branches that produce a profusion of blooms from late spring until the first frost. It is an effortless plant to grow, requiring minimal maintenance and deadheading, and is a favourite among butterflies. It is also ideal for cut flower arrangements, and similar to other salvias, it is highly resistant to deer and rabbit damage.

  • Garden care: Grow on in a frost-free, brightly lit location until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside. Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier growth and keep well watered. Feed with a good, high potash fertiliser (such as Tomorite) on a regular basis and pinch off the spent flowerspikes to encourage more to form.
