The award-winning ‘Bicolor’ has distinctive white blooms each with deep blue tips held on tall, stout stems above clumps of fine foliage. Also known as Wolfbane, historically Aconite was used as a poison on arrows when hunting wolves although it has also been adopted as a pain-reliever. If you have curious minds in your home this herbaceous perennial is perhaps best kept out of reach in the garden rather than as a cut flower!

  • Garden care: Prepare an extra deep planting hole at least 45cm deep, adding well-rotted organic matter to prevent the soil from drying out in summer. Always wear gloves when working with monkshood since all parts of the plant are poisonous and a potential skin irritant. Cut the flowering stem to within 15cm of the ground in the autumn to prevent it self seeding.
      • Humans/Pets: TOXIC if eaten; avoid skin contact
