The flowers of this impressive allium are quite a deep purple, and they form in flat-bottomed clusters a little later in the season than most. Therefore, they are excellent for extending the season, adding height and colour well into summer. They make sublime cut flowers (for both fresh or dried arrangements), so make sure you plant a few extras for the vase. - Garden care: Plant the bulbs 15cm deep and 20cm apart to avoid the flowers being too crowded. Avoid excessive soil moisture and split and divide large clumps in autumn or spring.
