Producing a mass of multi-coloured, funnel-shaped flowers throughout summer, these showy perennials will slowly spread to form good-sized clumps if they are planted in a sheltered spot.
The flowers are excellent for cutting and will be long-lasting in a vase, so it is worth planting a few more than you need for the border.

Plant outside 20cm deep and 30-45cm apart after frost, or into pots under glass at any time. After flowering cut back the faded flower-stems, but make sure you always wear gloves when working with Peruvian lilies, as contact with the foliage may cause skin irritation.
Newly planted alstroemerias should be given a very generous 20cm deep mulch of chipped bark in their first winter to help the plants become established. In subsequent autumns, provide a dry mulch of bracken or bark chippings to help protect the crowns.
