Bulbine frutescens 'Yellow' is a low-growing, drought-tolerant succulent with clumps of fleshy, linear leaves and bright yellow, star-shaped flowers, formed on long racemes above the foliage, that bloom from June to August.

This rhizomatous perennial forms neat clumps about 30-45cm (12-18in) tall and wide, making stalked bulbine ideal for rock gardens, borders, and containers. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soils, it's easy to maintain and attracts pollinators. Additionally, its leaf sap is traditionally used for minor skin irritations.

  • Garden care:
Bulbine frutescens 'Yellow' thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and minimal watering, making it perfect for drought-tolerant gardens. Highly heat-resistant, it requires protection from frost during the cooler months.

Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming and fertilise lightly during the growing season. Generally pest-free, this low-maintenance succulent adds vibrant colour with very little care, making it ideal for both garden beds and containers.
