  • Hardiness: fully hardy

A vigorous, upright evergreen shrub with single, slightly cupped, scarlet flowers in early to mid-spring that beautifully contrast with the glossy, finely serrated dark green leaves. 'Kimberley' is well-suited to a large pot in a sheltered, partially shaded spot, or as a specimen shrub for a woodland margin border.

  • Garden care: To prevent damage to the emerging buds and flowers protect from cold, dry winds and early morning sun. Water established plants in dry weather to prevent bud drop. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser in mid-spring and again in June. Top-dress annually with shredded bark or well-rotted leaf mould. After flowering lightly trim or prune any branches that spoil the appearance of the plant. Prefers acidic soil with plenty of organic matter and good drainage.
