Quickly covering an unsightly wall or fence with its lustrous, evergreen foliage, this gorgeous climber is ideally suited to sunny, sheltered positions. The foliage is attractive, but it's mainly grown for its lightly scented flowers, which appear in abundance in early spring. Try to plant it near a seating area or entrance so you can take full advantage of their perfume!
This clematis prefers its roots to be in cool, moist, well-drained soil in a sheltered position away from cold winds and also benefits from the protection of a sunny, south facing wall or fence. Keep the roots protected during the winter with a thick mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure. Once established, prune after flowering. This plant is toxic to dogs if eaten.
