This small, shrubby, deciduous tree forms a spreading canopy of shallowly lobed rich green leaves, studded in mid- to late spring, with clusters of small white, double flowers. These usually fade to soft pink as they age, and are then followed by rounded red berries. A great ornamental option for the smaller garden or woodland setting, and as the stems are thorny, it's excellent for deterring vandals. - Garden care: Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.
- Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental - not to be eaten
