A striking, small ornamental tree valued for its purple-red fruit and deeply cut, blue-grey foliage. This round-headed deciduous tree bears clusters of creamy white spring flowers followed by abundant dark purple fruit in early autumn. The deeply divided leaves emerge silvery blue-green before maturing to greyish green, and when planted in full sun, this hardy tree develops the best autumn colour and fruit display.
Tolerant of various soils, pollution, and coastal conditions, Crataegus schraderiana makes an excellent specimen tree for smaller gardens wanting multi-season interest.

When planting, add some soil conditioner (well-rotted compost) to the planting hole and some mycorrhizal fungi to aid root establishment.
Ensure the top of the plant's compost is flush with the level of the surrounding soil and the collar of the tree is above ground level.
Support taller specimens either with a bamboo cane and or stake during establishment. Water generously around the base of the plant.
