Echinacea 'Delicious Candy' ('Noortdeli') (PBR)
- available to order from autumn
- 9cm pot
This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
- Position: full sun
- Soil: most soils, except very dry or boggy
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: June to September
- Hardiness: fully hardy
The flowerheads of these wonderful perennials are an eye-catching mix of hot pink and orange-red, so they really stand out in the summer border. Added to that, they lend themselves well to a wide range of planting styles, so will look right at home in a cottage, prairie, or (as their heads are a magnet for many beneficial insects), a wildlife-friendly garden.
- Garden care: Lift and divide congested colonies in autumn or spring. In autumn cut back all dead flower stems to the ground. Coneflowers benefit from a spring or autumn mulch with well-rotted compost.
