  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: poor to moderately-fertile, well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil
  • Rate of growth: average to fast-growing
  • Flowering period: February to August
  • Hardiness: borderline hardy (may need winter protection)

From mid-spring until deep into summer, 'Red Jep' is a semi-evergreen perennial that produces dense racemes of fabulously fragrant flowers in shades of red, reddish-purple and pinky-orange carried on stout stems above lance-shaped dark green leaves.

  • Garden care: When planting this perennial wallflower, incorporate well-rotted compost into the planting hole. If planting in late winter or early spring, there may be some old foliage from the previous year's growth, this will soon be discarded and replaced with fresh new growth. Protect emerging shoots from frost with a double layer of horticultural fleece and provide a thick organic (insulating) mulch for extra frost protection during freezing conditions for the roots.
