Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea Pendula' creates an enchanting focal point with its mushroom-shaped form and gracefully weeping purple branches. This compact ornamental beech bears small, inconspicuous flower catkins in late spring, and develops into a small tree with cascading limbs revealing smooth silver bark in winter. Its wavy purple leaves emerge tipped in red, turning coppery bronze in fall. Requiring little care, the petite stature and refined habit make this fabulous native tree ideal for small gardens wanting unique structure and colourful foliage.

  • Garden care:
Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.
