An award-winning perennial celebrated for its long blooming period and stunning lavender-blue flowers with a white eye and purple veining.

Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, Geranium 'Rozanne' ties garden designs together with its cohesive flow of colour and form. It softens edges, fills gaps, and adds lasting interest alongside shrubs

Flowering from early summer to mid-autumn, this fabulous cranesbill, judged by the RHS as the best plant introduced at the Chelsea Flower Show over the previous century, forms a spreading, mounding habit with deep green, lobed foliage that takes on reddish tints in autumn.

Fully hardy and easy to grow, it’s also wildlife-friendly, attracting bees and butterflies, making it a valuable addition to borders, rock gardens, containers, or as ground cover.

  • Garden care:
Incorporate plenty of organic matter when planting and water well in dry weather, especially newly established plants. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost around the plant to help seal in moisture, feed the soil, and reduce the need for weeding.

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming. If the plant becomes too leggy or untidy later in the season, trim lightly to encourage fresh growth and more flowers.

During the first growing season, regular watering is crucial to establish deep roots. Once established, 'Rozanne' shows commendable drought tolerance. A feed of balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring will support its prolific blooming.

One of the many virtues of this hardy geranium is its resistance to pests and diseases, making it a low-maintenance choice for gardeners. To encourage a second flush of blooms, trim the plant back by one-third in midsummer (aka ‘The Chelsea Chop’).

At the end of the growing season, cut it back to ground level in late autumn or early spring. Every 3-4 years, consider dividing the plant in spring to maintain its vigour.
