This captivating, wet-soil loving perennial flaunts fleshy, scalloped-edged leaves with a green canvas and cream-white borders. As it matures, these borders blush with pink, while burgundy stems add more interest. A stellar oxygenator, Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides 'Variegata' demands attention in smaller ponds, forming dense mats over the water's surface which provides a haven for aquatic life. Variegated and low-growing, from spring, inconspicuous greenish flowers emerge.

  • Garden care:
Plant out in reliably moist or boggy soil, or pot up into a pond basket and place at the margins of a pond in shallow water no deeper than 20cm (8"). While low maintenance, cut back regularly to control spread. Divide congested clumps in early spring every few years and be mindful of not disposing of cuttings into local waterways where it could become invasive.
