A nutritious and succulent curly kale which stands well through the colder months, offering much improved winter hardiness over other varieties. 'Oldenbor' boasts outstanding flavour and a longer harvest period from September right through to late February where its dark green leaves (resistant to yellowing) can be picked over a long period as ‘baby leaf’ or left to mature.

  • Growing instructions: Sow direct into shallow drills (1.5cm/1/2") in a well-prepared seed bed from late spring and thin seedlings to 7-10cm (3-4”) apart as they grow. When they reach about 15cm tall, transplant to their final growing site leaving about 45cm (18”) apart and 60cm (24”) between the rows to grow on. Keep well-watered and protect from pigeons until established: cut young leaves from the crown of the plant once they reach about 10-15cm (4-7”) long. Always pick leaves from the bottom of the stem first to prolong the cropping period. Earlier sowings can be started under glass.

  • Sow: May to June

  • Harvest: October to February
