Henry’s honeysuckle is a vigorous, evergreen climber with attractive, elegantly twining stems that rapidly scramble up trellis and wire supports. Mid to dark green, lance-shaped leaves and muted ochre-yellow and red tubular flowers appear in June and July followed by black berries.

  • Garden care: Cut back established plants after flowering, removing a third of the flowering shoots. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant in early spring.
  • Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental - not to be eaten
