An excellent oxygenating plant, Myriophyllum rubricaule 'Red Stem' has vivid red stems and feathery, green whorls of foliage. From the Latin ‘myrio’ meaning too many to count and ‘phyllum’ meaning leaves…you get the gist!

Perfect for smaller ponds and bog gardens, parrot’s feather is well suited to areas of full sun or partial shade. Tiny yellow flowers may be borne on the emergent leaf axils from June until August.

Please note that this red-stemmed species of Parrot's Feather (Myriophyllum rubricaule) is the non-invasive form and is available for sale under UK law.

  • Garden care:
Plant up into small baskets of aquatic soil with a thin covering of pea gravel to discourage clouding of the water. Leaves growing on the surface of the water are shorter and stiffer than those below; the underwater leaves provide shelter for small aquatic life. Trim off decaying foliage. Re-pot as required.
