  • Hailing from Japan, this cute little succulent starts with small delicate grey to mauve rosettes that form whimsical, conical heads. In late summer and autumn, 5-10cm (2-4”) pale pink flower spikes rise above this botanical curiosity before dying back. Orostachys spreads via side shoots making it an ideal companion for a sunny, sheltered alpine trough or conservatory planter.

  • Garden care: Grow in specialist cactus compost or free draining soil in full sun. Water moderately while in growth and apply a half-strength liquid fertiliser twice a year during the warmer months; keep almost dry in winter and in a protected spot away from hard frosts, allowing the soil to completely
