Showcasing vibrant blue needles and a neat pyramidal form, ‘Erich Frahm’ is a compact ornamental spruce valued for its colourful, aromatic foliage and tidy habit. This dense, bushy conifer forms a narrow columnar tree with strongly upright branching with the striking foliage emerging silvery blue before maturing to steel blue year-round. Female cones are borne annually, starting green and fading to pale brown. Prefers neutral to acidic soil conditions.

  • Garden care:
When planting, incorporate well-rotted compost or manure into the planting hole and add some mycorrhizal fungi to aid root establishment. Remove any additional central stems that appear in spring and compete with the dominant stem (or leader) to maintain a balanced form. At the same time, cut out any weak or misshapen shoots.
