The Chinese money plant has, in recent years, become hugely popular. Native to Yunnan Province in southern China, Pilea peperomioides was introduced into wider circulation by a Norwegian Missionary in 1946, who shared the basal shoots with his friends in Norway where it is still referred to as the ‘Missionary plant’. ‘Mojito’ is a relatively low-growing houseplant which has beautifully rounded, faintly variegated leaves with a slightly fleshy texture.

Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

  • Home care: Water moderately during the warmer months, allowing the surface of the soil to dry out in between, but keep dryer in the winter. Mist with water regularly, and shelter from direct sun in the summer.
