Marsh cinquefoil or bog strawberry, is an appealing native marginal plant with lobed leaves and striking deep red star-shaped flowers blooming from late spring to summer. Ideal for planting along the water's edge or the shallow margins of your pond and thrives in bog gardens and wetland areas with consistently wet soil. This rhizomatous, woody-based perennial is highly enticing to butterflies, bees, and hoverflies.
  • Garden care:
Plant Potentilla palustris ensuring it is submerged at a depth of up to 10cm in consistently moist soil or positioned at the water line along your pond margin. The recommended planting depth is 0-10 cm (0-4 inches). Trim flowered stems down to ground level in the autumn.
    • Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental - not to be eaten
