A rosette-forming evergreen perennial with dark green, oval-shaped deeply veined leaves and purple flowers with dark yellow centres which appear in mid to late spring. Tough and weather resistant, ‘Showstopper Purple’ thrives in borders or containers, lightly scenting the air and promising a hardy yet glamorous spring spectacle. Pairs well with pale pink, or golden tulips.
Plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established. Divide large clumps in late spring or early summer after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
