Unlike other pyracanthas, this form has fewer thorns along the length of its stems. That makes it a lot easier to manage - without missing out on the abundance of late spring and early summer flowers, or glossy red autumn and winter berries. A showy and versatile evergreen, it offers year-round interest, and can be grown as a free-standing shrub, or tied onto a sturdy framework against a wall and used as an alternative to a climber (they're particularly useful for a north-facing aspect).

Please note that the pots shown are not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a nursery pot). They do however make excellent potted plants, and if you wish to pot yours up, we do have a wide range of pots on our website to choose from.

  • Garden care: When planting incorporate plenty of well-rotted organic matter into the planting hole. Prune hedges in early to mid-summer. In early spring, trim out misplaced or crossing branches on free-standing shrubs. Tie in any shoots to extend the framework of wall shrubs, and shorten branches to about 2 or 3 leaves from the base after flowering to expose the berries.
  • Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental - not to be eaten
