Forming tight clusters, 'Ruby Heart' is an evergreen perennial bearing rosettes of fleshy, pointed leaves with silvery to blue-green tips that are flushed red at the bases forming a red centre. This colour can vary throughout the seasons in response to temperature, intensifying in autumn and winter for a dazzling alpine trough, pot, or rock garden display. In summer, clusters of star-shaped pink flowers are borne on stems up to around 15cm (6”) tall.

  • Garden care: Sempervivums produce tall stalks of pink or red flowers in the late spring or early summer after which it will usually produce offsets, or new plants, from the base of the rosette. Remove dead plants after they have flowered to make room for new rosettes to form. Water moderately when actively growing and avoid winter wet.
