A beautifully curated collection of complementary burgundy and purple toned plants from which this dazzling cut flower display can be created year after year.

The collection contains ten plants from the plants listed below.

  • 1 x Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’: This deciduous shrub has magnificent, dark red-purple oval leaves, that turn scarlet in autumn. In July and August, it is festooned with fluffy plumes of purplish-pink flowers that look like a haze of smoke. Grows to 5m. Supplied in a 2 litre pot.

  • 3 x Anemone ‘Frilly Knickers’: The large purple buds of this clump-forming perennial open to a mass of white petals with delicate hints of lilac and a boss of golden-yellow stamens. Grows to 50cm. Supplied in 9cm pots.

  • 3 x Astrantia ‘Hadspen Blood’: 'Hadspen Blood' produces umbels of dark reddish-purple flowers, each surrounded by a ruff of similarly coloured, long lasting bracts, throughout the summer - or even longer if deadheaded regularly. Grows to 90cm. Supplied in 9cm pots.

  • 3 x Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea 'Transparent': The flowers of this deciduous grass have a light, open habit, which creates a gossamer haze above the foliage. Therefore, it's ideal for weaving through a mixed or herbaceous border, where the purple, feathery spikelets will create gentle movement as they catch every breeze. Grows to 2m. Supplied in 9cm pots.

  • Garden care:
Seedlings should be potted up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed. Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier growth, and feed at regular intervals throughout summer with a high-potash fertiliser. Taller plants may need supporting with brushwood stems in exposed positions.
