Glorious, golden-yellow leaves and fleshy, cup-shaped, bright red autumn fruits. This charming, little, golden yew tolerates dry shade, chalky and acid soils and urban pollution. Narrow and columnar in shape, Taxus baccata 'Standishii' looks marvellous planted alongside other slow-growing, dwarf conifers with contrasting foliage and form.

  • Garden care:
Yew thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, acidic soil. Plant in a hole twice the size of the root ball, amended with organic matter. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, and fertilise annually with a balanced granular feed. Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in late summer. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
    • Humans/Pets: TOXIC if eaten
