- Garden care: Veronicas need free-draining soil, so before planting, dig in lots of organic matter to improve the soil condition and drainage. Water newly planted shrubs regularly for the first season, especially in warm, dry weather. Once planted, this veronica requires minimal pruning, but remove misplaced or frost-damaged branches in late spring. Protect from severe winter weather with a double layer of horticultural fleece.
Masses of rosy-purple flower spikes on red-tinted stems from summer to autumn and dark green leaves with prominent red midribs. Neat and compact, 'Wiri Charm' also makes a great, long-flowering container plant. Protect from cold, drying winds during the winter to preserve the appearance of the evergreen verdant foliage.
