The super-fine texture of this specialist seed compost ensures a good close contact between seeds and soil. Nutrients and moisture are delivered more efficiently, boosting germination rates by up to 25% and helping cuttings root more successfully.

The mix contains a blend of plant extracts to stimulate strong growth of roots and leaves. Added vermiculite improves moisture retention while letting roots breathe, creating an ideal growing environment.

How to use:

The compost may be a little compressed after transit, so work it between your hands to restore the fine crumbly texture.

Seed sowing:

Fill the pot or tray to just below the rim, tap it down on your potting bench or table to settle it and create a flat even surface, water thoroughly and allow to drain. Sow your seeds evenly, then cover with a thin layer of compost. Water using a watering can with a fine rose.

For faster germination, or for heat-loving seeds like chillis, tomatoes and aubergines, cover with a polythene bag or propagator lid and keep out of direct sunlight until seeds have germinated.

Cuttings:

To make a cutting, snip a non-flowering shoot roughly 10cm long from your chosen plant. Trim off the leaves, leaving just the top two pairs. Dip the bottom in rooting gel, then push it firmly into compost. Water it well and cover with a poly bag (you can use an elastic band to secure it to the pot), and place it in a warm spot away from direct sunlight.

Store in a cool, dry place away from weed killers and other garden chemicals, and reseal bag after use. Always wear gloves when handling and wash hands afterwards.
