Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum' is incredibly popular as it is so easy to grow - just place it in a well lit place, water, and watch it grow! As it matures it develops stems, each of which has a baby plant at its tip. These can be pegged down into compost, and when rooted the stem can be cut and you will have another plant - great for jumble sales or gifts for friends!

Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

  • Home care:
Spider plant is low-maintenance but benefits from consistent care for best growth. Water freely during the active growing season in spring and summer, keeping the compost evenly moist, but reduce watering in winter to avoid soggy

Mist the foliage occasionally to raise humidity, especially in centrally heated rooms. Position in bright, indirect light and keep temperatures ideally between 60-75°F (16-24°C), avoiding drops below 46°F (8°C) in winter. Feed every 2-3 weeks with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser during the growing months to support strong foliage and offsets.

Repot when roots become congested, usually every couple of years, refreshing the compost to maintain nutrients and vigour.
