This compact evergreen shrub produces masses of pale pink, lantern-like flowers that hang from arching stems from late spring through to late summer. The flowers appear waxy and slightly nodding, standing out well against the dark green, glossy foliage.

Best grown in acidic, moist but well-drained soil, Crinodendron hookerianum 'Ada Hoffmann' prefers a sheltered, partially shaded spot, protected from cold drying winds. It's ideal for woodland-style borders or containers in milder regions and adds year-round structure with a long flowering season.

Regular mulching helps maintain soil moisture and acidity, while pruning after after flowering keeps the shape of the plant bushy and tidy.

  • Garden care:
Choose a sheltered spot with dappled shade and acidic, moist but well-drained soil—it's ideal for woodland-style borders or large containers.

Avoid exposed sites and protect from harsh winds and frost, especially in colder regions. Mulch annually with ericaceous compost to help retain moisture and maintain soil acidity.

After flowering, lightly prune any shoots that disrupt the plant’s shape, but avoid hard pruning as it can impact flowering the following year. Water during dry spells, particularly in the first couple of years after planting, and feed with an ericaceous fertiliser in spring.
