Slender trailing stems are threaded with small heart-shaped leaves, which are patterned dark green and silver, while the undersides are pinkish-purple. These are sometimes accompanied by diminutive tubular flowers, which look interesting but are not showy.

An easy to care for and somewhat unusual succulent, Ceropegia linearis subsp. woodii looks great when the stems are allowed to trail over the edge of a shelf, however it must not be overwatered, especially during periods of lower growth in winter.

  • Home care:
Grow Ceropegia in a free-draining cactus or succulent compost to prevent root rot. Avoid overwatering at any time, especially in low light. It needs a bright spot with plenty of indirect light but should be protected from harsh, direct sun. During the growing season, water thoroughly when the compost has almost dried out, making sure any excess drains away. Reduce watering in winter to an occasional light drink.

Apply a low-nitrogen liquid feed 2–3 times during active growth (March to September). Pruning isn’t essential but you can trim long stems to shape or propagate. It dislikes cold and wet, so keep above 10°C (50°F) and ensure good air circulation.

Please note: all our indoor hanging pots include drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. We recommend taking them down to water in the sink or on a saucer, and leaving them to drain before rehanging.
