Forming a low fountain-like clump of semi-evergreen variegated foliage, this perennial is ideal for planting in swathes around the pond edge, or for helping to illuminate boggy regions of the garden where little else will grow. Ideal reliably boggy or wet areas, Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' forms an attractive tuft of gracefully arching, narrow, sword-shaped, golden-yellow leaves adorned with olive green stripes. Tiny green/yellow flowers develop into small red berries come autumn.
Please note that Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' is offered in both aquatic pots, which are ideal for planting at the edges of a pond, or regular nursery pots for planting in boggy soils above the water line.

Acorus gramineus is ideal for the edge of a pond or consistently damp borders and containers, with no more than 5cm (2in) of water over the crown if planted in a basket. Clear away dead leaves in late winter by combing through the leaves using gloves, and dividing established clumps in spring.
Similar in care to other sweet flags, A. gramineus is slightly more tolerant of periods where the soil may dry at the surface, as long as the roots remain moist.
