With its striking magenta-pink bottlebrush flowers flecked with golden highlights, this compact Australian shrub brings vibrant colour from spring through to autumn. The fragrant, narrow, lance-shaped leaves emerge as red-tinted young shoots before maturing into grey-green foliage, providing year-round interest.

Callistemon viminalis Hot Pink grows to around 1.5m, making it ideal for smaller gardens, urban spaces, or as a feature plant in large containers. Prune faded flowers to encourage repeat blooms, and plant in full sun in well-drained soil to attract bees and butterflies while creating a bold, eye-catching display. Prefers neutral to acidic soils. start to dip. Callistemon prefer neutral to acidic soils.


  • Garden care:
    Tip prune young plants to encourage bushy growth. Established plants should be pruned in stages over two or three summers, cutting back older wood to younger, outward-facing shoots immediately after flowering. Protect from low temperatures and waterlogged conditions.
